Serve as the main Allen Press Publishing Services contact for the author, editor, and in-house staff. |

Assist the editor in making decisions and work with the editor and staff to ensure that the overall quality of the journal remains as high as possible.

|
|
|
|
Receive manuscripts from editorial office and ensure each manuscript is complete and will proceed through the production process as inexpensively and efficiently as possible. This includes checking text, tables, graphics, and any other materials for potential problems.

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Keep track of manuscripts throughout production process, answering all inquiries from authors and editors about the status of articles. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Consult with editors about solutions to any production problems. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Ensure that all proofs and forms (e.g., author instructions, reprint order forms, etc.) are mailed correctly. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Check proofs for any problems with formatting (heads, type size) and layout (placement of text, figures, and tables) and offer solutions. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Pull together all elements of each issue: table of contents, business information, masthead, editorial policy, article order, advertisements, society/meeting announcements, etc.; add page numbers. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Polish supplementary material so that it is production-ready (abstracts, announcements, front matter). |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Review page proofs at every stage (1st revs, 2nd revs, 3rd revs) for consistency and accuracy; make sure all corrections have been made. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Forward forms (reprint order, page charge, copyright, etc.) to appropriate departments. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Ensure that up-to-date and comprehensive style sheets are maintained to ensure consistency between articles and issues. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Index each volume. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Generate status reports. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Perform any additional duties as needed by the editorial office, for example: choose cover art, coordinate ad placements, communicate with ACG Publisher and society officers about the journal, and communicate with authors about editorial policy. |

|
|
Manage any special projects through production phases, concentrating on accuracy and timeliness. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Keep track of manuscripts in the review process utilizing AllenTrack (when customers have purchased this service). |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Essential Functions
Receive corrected proofs from the authors and the editor |
|
|
|
Evaluate author's and editor's corrections to discern if the changes are necessary and conform to journal style; mark edited corrections accurately on master set of proofs. |

Contact the author or editor for missing information or unclear content. |
|
|
|

Check that all typeset copy is correct |
|
|
|
Understand and follow style when integrating, editing, proofing, and correcting text and indexes. |

|
Check pages against sample pages for correct formatting of headings, type, and special elements. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Evaluate layout of page proofs, especially of tables and art, and offer solutions to layout problems (facing-page requirements, etc.). |

|
|
|
|
|
Check that all corrections have been made on subsequent rounds of pages. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Check quality of figures. |

|
|
|
